Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 November 2026
In short: there are no accounts, analytics or trackers. We see your details when you buy or email us, and the apps check your licence key. What you do on your Mac stays on your Mac.
This policy covers this website and the Windowsify and File Explorer for Mac apps. The party responsible for your data is [SELLER LEGAL NAME], [SELLER POSTAL ADDRESS] (“we”, “us”). Contact: [CONTACT EMAIL].
This website
The site has no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts and sets no cookies. Like any website, our host, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and keep the site secure. We don’t use this to identify you.
The interactive demos run in your browser, and nothing you do in them is sent anywhere. Links to other websites are covered by those websites’ own policies.
When you buy
Checkout is run by Lemon Squeezy, which collects your payment details, name, email address and billing country under its own privacy policy. We never see your full card number. We receive your order details so we can provide the Software, handle refunds and keep the records that tax and accounting law require. We keep these for [RETENTION PERIOD, E.G. 7 YEARS].
When you email us
If you contact us we use your email address and what you send, including any crash report or screenshot, to help you. We keep it for [RETENTION PERIOD, E.G. 2 YEARS], or longer if we need it for a legal claim.
In the Windowsify app
Windowsify has no accounts or analytics and doesn’t send us your data.
- Update checks. About a minute after launch and then once a day, Windowsify asks this website whether a new version is out. Updates are downloaded from here too. Like any web request, this shows our host your IP address and basic software details. You can turn off automatic checks in Settings › App › Updates.
- Licence key. When you activate, and about once a week after that, Windowsify sends your licence key to Lemon Squeezy to check it. The key is kept in your Mac’s keychain. Your activation is labelled “Windowsify on a Mac”, never with your Mac’s name.
- Accessibility and Input Monitoring. These let Windowsify move windows and respond to keys and clicks. This happens on your Mac, and your keystrokes aren’t sent anywhere.
- Screen Recording. This is used only for pictures of your windows in Dock previews, Task View and snap animations. They are made on your Mac and never leave it.
- Clipboard history. If you keep history after a restart, it is saved in
~/Library/Application Support/Windowsify, in files only your user account can open. These files aren’t encrypted, so anyone using your account could read them. Windowsify skips items that password managers mark as concealed, and can skip text that looks sensitive. You can clear the history at any time, and the uninstaller can delete it.
In the File Explorer app
File Explorer has no accounts or analytics and doesn’t send us your data. It checks your licence key with Lemon Squeezy in the same way as Windowsify. Everything else it does works on your files on your Mac. If you send a file with AirDrop, Blip or LocalSend, it goes where you send it, through that service.
Why we’re allowed to use your data
If UK or EU data protection law applies to you, we rely on: performing our contract with you (orders, refunds, support), legal obligations (tax records) and our legitimate interests (keeping the site secure and answering messages).
Who else handles it
Only the service providers named above: Lemon Squeezy, Cloudflare and Google, which handles our email. Some are in other countries, including the United States, and rely on the legal safeguards those transfers require. We don’t sell your personal data or share it for advertising.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to see, correct, delete or move your data, or object to or limit how we use it. California and other US state residents have similar rights, and we won’t treat you differently for using them. To ask, email [CONTACT EMAIL]. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
The Software isn’t aimed at children under 13 (or the minimum age where you live), and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes we’ll update the date above, and we’ll say so clearly on this page if the change is significant.
